About Our Television Special

Sunshine from Darkness
Shining a Light
on Mental Illness

Reducing the destructive stigma associated with mental illness is a major priority for NARSAD Florida. In 2005, we made an extraordinary step in that direction with the production of this two-hour special with WEDU, Florida's most watched PBS station.

The audience feedback was very gratifying; viewers said things such as "It is just wonderful that you're using a television program to help the people who are suffering from schizophrenia or depression," and "It is so encouraging to see TV doing good." According to Paul Grove, WEDU Vice President, National Programming and Production, "We felt the program made a tremendous impact due to the incredible number of calls we received."
